Celebrate Independence

As I write this post, I am listening to the fireworks explode outside of my windows even though it is past 11:00 pm. Today we celebrate our freedom, our independence. As Christians, we should be thankful to live in a country where we can freely celebrate this Independence as well as the Independence that we have from the slavery of sin. When Christ died for us, he won our War of Independence. I don't remember the exact date of my Independence, but I do remember the peace that flooded over me as a twelve year old boy after I finally settled in my heart that Jesus Christ was to be my Lord and Savior. That was my day of Independence. Do you remember yours?

This past month has been extremely busy. We started out Father's Day weekend singing for a revival service at Carolina Baptist Church. What a wonderful start to the weekend as we saw one young lady give her life to Christ. We saw another rededicate his life to Christ. On Saturday we were able to sing at Pigeon Roost Church of the Brethren. What a blessing these people were to our hearts. On Father's Day Morning we were at Pine Branch Baptist Church. God really moved on the service and we were so honored to be a part of it. God is so good to us. We ended a great weekend with a concert at Bear Creek Baptist Church. Thank you to all who came out and supported One Focus during this busy weekend.

On June 25, we had the very great honor of singing at Trinity Baptist Church in Spartanburg SC. This was a great honor to us because Trinity was mine and Chrystal's home church when we were kids. Dr. Dennis Carter is the pastor there and a great man of God. He is the pastor of Brenda and Leo Ruppe of The Ruppes. He was diagnosed with cancer three years ago and given three weeks to live. He is a walking miracle. It was wonderful to get to see him and his family as well as many people we had not seen for several years.

This weekend we had a break, but next week we will be hitting the road again through the end of July. Please keep us in prayer as we will be busy. We will be going into the studio at the end of the month to begin work on our sophomore project. Keep this a matter of prayer. Continue lifting up Mr. Dorrell as he continually makes improvements. Titus Phillips is the name of my cousins baby. He had heart surgery and is continuing to gain weight (he is up to 2 pounds now) but he still has a long way to go, so please continue to pray. Pray for Dr. Carter and the cancer that he still has in his body. Also pray for Leo Ruppe as they have also diagnosed him with cancer. Please help us pray for some more meetings in the next few months. We are praying for a full schedule for next year. If you know of someone who would want to have One Focus come and minister for them, please drop us a line.

God bless each and every one of you out there doing the work the Lord has you doing.

Focusing on Christ,

Brian
